As Dorothy says “There’s no place like home.” Home is a place each and every family member should feel safe and secure in. A place each member longs to come to after a tiring day of running errands or going to school or to work. A place of comfort and nurturing and growth.
But our homes and the family are under attack. Satan is seeking to destroy the family unit, and we are constantly bombarded with the world’s views of what a family can look like, so that we can easily lose sight of how God intended our families to be. God created our families to be a holy unit, one in which He is priority, in which the husband and wife lovingly live out their God-given roles in marriage, and the children are obedient to their parents. Once we get our own families in alignment with God’s desired order for families, I think we’ll see God do mighty things in our churches, in our nation, and around the world. But it starts with us, in our own homes and within our own families.
Feel free to print out this list of scriptures to pray for your family and home. Personalize the scriptures while you pray the specific things your family and home needs. I recommend praying these scriptures out loud in various places throughout your home.
Also, you may want to consider anointing your home with oil while you pray these scriptures. Oil is used throughout scripture as a symbol of faith, and anointing someone or something with oil set it apart as holy. You can purchase holy oil or use essential oils and place a drop of oil over door frames, bed frames, and places your family hangs out the most as you pray these scriptures. This provides supernatural protection of your home and also consecrates your home, or sets it apart as one that is belonging to God. As it says in Proverbs 21:20 “In the house of the wise are treasures and oil.”
Pray that God would be the builder and protector of your home. “Unless the LORD builds a house the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects the city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.” Psalm 127:1 17

He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land … you will be blessed more than any other people.” Deuteronomy 7:12-14
Pray that your home would be one where your children are taught about God. “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon our hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Ties the as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7
Pray that your home would be filled with godly love. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. She came to him [Jesus] and asked, "Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me! “Martha, Martha,” the LORD answered. “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed.” Luke 10:40
